We need to remove drywall in 9 spots for electical work for our kitchen design.

Some spots were for new plugs or switches, others to remove staples holding existing wire, and to thread wire up from the panel.  And we also moved our vent 15 inches, so we patched that even though it would not been seen behind the cabinets.

It was all fireboard, Kitchen board should be by code, so it is 5/8 thick.

Cutting the board was easy, and we were able to get a 4'x4' board from Rona, Home Depot would not sell us one.  We perferred the service at Rona.

The key for dry wall is time and patience.  One thin coat of drywall with tape or mess.  You need the mess or tape or it will crack!

Wait 24 hours.

Sand and remove dust. Second thicker coat and wider on the seems, try to get it smooth as possible.

Wait 24 hours.

Sand and remove dust, third coat, thin and really just on the edge to feather it into the wall.  We did not sponge, we just lightly sanded.

We do suggest that you do all drywall before the finished floor, drywall is messy.

Drywall sanding is really dusty as well, we suggest that you use an old vacuum to clean up while you go.
